Admission criteria

To be considered for entry into this course, you must have completed:

  • A bachelor’s degree with honours (or equivalent) in a related discipline, OR
  • A three-year undergraduate qualification AND at least 50 credit points (or equivalent) of graduate study in a related discipline, OR
  • A three-year undergraduate qualification AND at least two years documented relevant work experience, OR
  • The equivalent of eight years of documented professional experience with evidence of artistic ability and achievement or practice comparable to that expected of honours degree holders in relevant disciplines.

You must also submit:

  • A curriculum vitae (CV), AND
  • A portfolio of relevant work, AND
  • An artistic statement, AND
  • Three referees.

If your application is shortlisted, you will also be required to successfully complete an interview.

English language requirements

All applicants to the University of Melbourne must satisfy the English language requirements. This may be achieved in a number of ways, including recognised previous study taught and assessed entirely in English or an approved English language test. About selection

When assessing applications, the Selection Committee will consider your previous studies and academic performance.

The Selection Committee may request additional information to clarify any aspect of an application, according to the University’s Academic Board rules regarding selection instruments.

Meeting the published entry requirements for this course does not guarantee selection.

The Selection Committee will also consider your portfolio, artistic statement, your curriculum vitae (CV) and professional experience.

Your writing portfolio should be of no more than 20 pages.

If your application is shortlisted, you will also be required to attend an interview, your performance in which will also be used to assess your application.

Graduate Access Melbourne (GAM)
