Deepen your dance artistry through embodied enquiry and research informed by contemporary theoretical concerns.

Dance at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music emphasises artistry, performance, choreographic practice and research. The honours course is designed to foster your creativity and innovation, advance your dance experience, and develop skills of analysis and critique within in the field of dance studies.

You will join a vibrant community of dance makers and researchers, with opportunities to learn from expert practitioners and visiting choreographers. You will develop an independent project over the course of your honours year, culminating in a performance and an accompanying research paper.

Who is this course for?

The course is for graduates from the Victorian College of the Arts’ Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance) and dance graduates of other institutions who wish to extend and develop their practice through creative and critical research. It offers a flexible and supportive approach that makes it possible for you to strengthen your practice while developing research skills that can lead to an MFA or PhD.
