The Bachelor of Fine Arts (Degree with Honours) is an esteemed program that supports you to develop research skills and deepen your understanding of contemporary creative practice and theoretical discourse.

This dynamic one-year program seeks to introduce Honours candidates of proven ability and aptitude to research training, developing your critical thinking, creative drive, and capacity to devise, define and manage a major creative research project. The degree emphasises rigorous, independent, practice-led research – work that links critical curiosity and creative enquiry to encourage a deeper understanding and capacity in your chosen field.

Our program is located at the University's Southbank campus, a world-class teaching and learning facility at the heart of Melbourne’s arts precinct and with strong connections across disciplines that span a diverse range of professional partnerships and networks. Academic staff in the program are leading practitioners in their fields.

Specialisations

You can choose from one of the following specialisations for your Bachelor of Fine Arts (Degree with Honours):

In all specialisations, you'll undertake a year-long project under the guidance of your individual supervisor.

Graduate pathways

This degree provides you with a pathway to a masters or PhD research degree, and also strengthens your foundations for a professional career in the creative arts.
