Artificial intelligence (AI) is a powerful technology with the potential to transform the practice of medicine and healthcare delivery.

This online micro-credential is ideal for data scientists, medical technologists, and other healthcare professionals looking to enhance their understanding of emerging technologies and gain the skills to build machine learning models that address fundamental healthcare challenges.

Throughout this course, you’ll develop your skills in configuring and manipulating off-the-shelf AI tools, building familiarity with commonly used deep learning frameworks, as well as the understanding needed to identify the model that best suits your use case and required task.

Delivered by leading medical technology experts, this course is endorsed by the Victorian Medtech Skills and Devices Hub, a respected provider of industry-aligned and future-ready medtech education courses.

Understand how algorithms power AI advancements in healthcare

Deepen your knowledge of key algorithms in machine learning, deep learning, image processing, and text processing, including techniques like backpropagation. Understand how these algorithms work, their applications, and how they drive advancements in AI for healthcare.

Use popular deep learning frameworks like Tensorflow and PyTorch

Learn how to analyse, optimise, and implement algorithms from scratch using Python to process and interpret healthcare data. You'll utilise existing implementations of these algorithms from popular Python libraries including GPU-ready frameworks like Tensorflow and PyTorch, fast tracking your ability to leverage off-the-shelf AI tools for your needs.

Design a machine learning solution using your own data

Gain the knowledge and confidence to appraise suitable machine learning models from open-source repositories and use them in conjunction with your own data to tackle a healthcare challenge. You'll produce an industry-standard report showcasing the model's development, justification, and performance evaluation, gaining valuable experience in creating AI solutions for healthcare.

Who you will learn from

Learn from skilled academics and professional experts who will share invaluable knowledge you can use in your job.

Associate Professor Joseph West

AI for Neuroscience Researcher; AI/ML Lecturer

Joseph's research interest is in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence with a focus on general decision making and general applications. He is currently investigating deep learning approaches for neurological stimulation therapies covering Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS). By using state of the art deep learning methods to close the loop in neuro-stimulation he is improving outcomes for patients undergoing neurological electro-stimulation therapy.
