Admission criteria
To be considered for entry into this course, you must have completed:
- An undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in any discipline
Where degree levels are referenced, levels align with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). Applications are assessed against these standards.
English language requirements
All applicants to the University of Melbourne must satisfy the English language requirements. This may be achieved in a number of ways, including recognised previous study taught and assessed entirely in English or an approved English language test. If you are from a non-English speaking background, the required standard of English for this degree is one of the following English proficiency test scores:

Pathway to Masters
The online Graduate Certificate in Business can be used as a pathway into an on-campus Master degree from the Master of Management program or the Master of International Business. In addition to offering guaranteed entry based on your results in the Graduate Certificate, applicants who complete the appropriate subjects in the Graduate Certificate will also receive 50 points advanced standing in the relevant Masters degree (except the Master of Management (Accounting and Finance)), reducing the duration to 1.5 years.
Students intending to apply for an on-campus Master of Management program or Master of International Business, using their Graduate Certificate of Business results to enter the 150 point entry to must:
- achieve a minimum score of 70 within the Graduate Certificate, with no fails (Note: a higher score of 75 is required for the Master of Management (Finance)); AND
- choose the appropriate subjects (see Course structure ) for their intended Masters course.
Please note: Students with a Finance major in prior studies are excluded from the Master of Management (Finance). Also, students with an Accounting major in prior studies are excluded from the Master of Management (Accounting).
Advanced Standing
Prior studies may be credited towards your degree and potentially reduce the duration of your course. This is known as Advanced Standing (also known as credit or recognition of prior learning).
