Overview
Your pathway into university starts here
Want to study Science or Commerce at the University of Melbourne, but don’t yet meet the entry requirements? The Uni Ready Enabling Program could be your next step.
Over six months of full-time study, you’ll complete four subjects that prepare you for entry into either the Bachelor of Science or the Bachelor of Commerce. Two of these subjects are specifically designed to build your mathematics skills and satisfy the VCE Mathematical Methods entry requirement. For the other two subjects, you will complete subjects available to first-year Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Commerce students – giving you a head start in your degree.
The Program is free for students. It is fully funded by the Australian Government under the ‘FEE-FREE Uni Ready Courses’ initiative. You won’t need to make any student contributions, nor will you need the Higher Education Loan Program (HECS-HELP) to enrol in the program. It won't count towards your Student Learning Entitlement (SLE), either.
A guaranteed pathway with a head start
Successfully complete all four subjects and meet the required Weighted Average Mark (WAM) threshold of 65, and you’ll be guaranteed a place in your chosen degree. You’ll also receive subject credits for the two non-maths subjects. That means you’ll have a head start in completing your degree, with two subjects already done and dusted.
It’s a direct pathway into your studies – and your future – at Australia’s #1 university for both Science and Commerce.*
Choose a pathway that matches your study goals
The Uni Ready Enabling course has two tailored pathways:
- Science pathway – for students planning to enter the Bachelor of Science.
- Commerce pathway – for students planning to enter the Bachelor of Commerce.
Each pathway includes four subjects: two focused on mathematics preparation, and two first-year Bachelor subjects aligned to your chosen degree. You’ll be studying content that directly supports your transition to undergraduate study, and you’ll receive credit for the two non-maths subjects once you start your degree.
Build confidence, skills and readiness for Melbourne uni life
This program isn’t just about ticking boxes. It’s about helping you feel genuinely ready for university, both in and out of the classroom.
You’ll build practical and academic skills to support your entry into the Bachelor of Science or the Bachelor of Commerce, including critical thinking, time management, collaboration, numeracy and analysis.
You’ll also be supported every step of the way. Students in the program have access to extra support services to help ease the transition into university life.
