Admission criteria
To be considered for entry into this course, you must have:
- A Master of Nursing Science (or equivalent) OR a Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent), AND
- At least one year of documented clinical experience as a Registered Nurse within the preceding five years from the time of your application.
You are also required to have:
- Current unrestricted registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, AND
- At least one year of documented clinical experience in an acute care setting within the past five years, AND
- A graduate certificate, graduate diploma or master’s degree in an area of specialty nursing practice.
Depending on your subject enrolments, you may also require a Confirmation of Clinical Support form.
Indigenous applicants
Applicants of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent are given priority access to Nursing at the University of Melbourne.
Prospective Indigenous applicants are encouraged to:
- Complete the relevant section under the Graduate Access Melbourne requirement in the application form.
- Contact the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Science Indigenous Student Support Office for application and admission support.

English language requirements
All applicants to the University of Melbourne must satisfy the English language requirements. Graduate Access Melbourne (GAM)
