Overview
You will learn through our clinical model of education, which is unique in Australia. Connecting with our latest research, you will become skilled in assessing individual student abilities and being able to adapt your teaching to support the needs of each student in your classroom as they grow and develop over time.
Your studies will include an introduction to student wellbeing and engagement, practical application of skills in managing the class and engaging students, theoretical perspectives relevant to secondary education, provision for students with disabilities, and school-based legislative and policy contexts.
Study structure
From 2024 (November 2023 commencement), the Master of Teaching (Secondary) Internship will mirror the same course structure as the Standard Mode for Master of Teaching (Secondary). Both courses comprise 15 subjects, which equate to 200 points of study in total. The course is taken over two years of full-time study and is structured around three study intensives, supplemented by online academic study conducted across the year.
Following University and school orientations in early December, the first intensive takes place on campus in January 2025, prior to commencing work in your school of employment at the start of the 2025 school year. The second intensive takes place online in the year 1 winter school break. The final intensive takes place on campus in January of year 2.

Profile
Charlotte Duke
“I chose the Internship model for several reasons. I couldn’t wait to become a teacher, so it was a way to fast-track my study. I could put into practice what I was learning at university and see the impacts straight away.”
