Gain a guaranteed place

If you’re eligible for one of the below Access Melbourne circumstances, meet the course prerequisites and achieve the ATAR (or notional ATAR) listed in the table, you’ll gain a guaranteed place if you preference appropriately in VTAC:

• Resident of a regional or remote area
• Disadvantaged financial background
• Living in formal out-of-home care or experiencing homelessness*
• Living in Australia as a refugee on a permanent humanitarian visa (and will receive an ATAR or notional ATAR)*
• Recognised as an Indigenous Australian.

ATAR guarantees are only for Year 12 applicants applying for the intake immediately following the completion of your secondary school studies. Students who completed Year 12 before 2026 may receive an offer based on these guarantees, subject to course availability.

Applicants eligible under other Access circumstances are considered on an individual basis.

Graduate Degree Package guarantees

A Graduate Degree Package is a combined offer for an undergraduate degree and a place in a specialised professional graduate program. If you already know the career path you want to pursue, a Graduate Degree Package can help secure your graduate place before you begin your undergraduate studies. With a package offer you’ll save on course fees through a guaranteed a Commonwealth Supported Place – where a portion of your tuition fee is paid by the Australian Government

Access Melbourne guaranteed ATARs are now available for select Graduate Degree Packages. You must apply for, and meet the requirements for these Access Melbourne circumstances:

• Resident of a regional or remote area
• Reside in a low socioeconomic area according to a government definition (disadvantaged financial background)
• Recognition as an Indigenous Australian.

Applicants who have experienced educational disadvantage due to a disability or medical condition will also be given consideration. This will be based on the level of impact it has had on the student’s ability to study.
