A guide to entry scores for the British Columbia Certificate of Graduation Canada
All international and overseas domestic students with a British Columbia Certificate of Graduation (also known as the Dogwood Diploma) must meet the following criteria to be eligible for undergraduate admission:
- achieve the required cumulative score, and
- satisfy any subject prerequisites,and
- satisfy the English language requirement.
None of the University of Melbourne undergraduate degrees require personal statements, extracurricular activities, references orconsider depth of curriculum for admission. You do not need toinclude these items in your application. However, the Bachelor of Fine Arts and the Bachelor of Music require either a portfolio or audition as part of the application process.
The University of Melbourne recognises offshore British of Columbia high schools certified by the British Columbia Ministry of Education. Students from offshore BC schools can meet the University’s English language requirement only through an approved test.
Students currently enrolled at a Canadian high school (both onshore and offshore) can directly upload provisional transcripts to their applications to be considered for a conditional offer.
However, please note that official final transcripts from all Canadian high school qualifications must undergo formal verification before an unconditional offer can be issued. Refer to verification information for Canadian high school qualifications.

- An equivalent AP exam result noted in the US high school diploma guide.
- An equivalent IB subject noted in the International Baccalaureate guide.
- An equivalent subject from another international high school qualification recognised by the University.
- Other studies and tests pre-approved by the University.
3English
The English language requirement must be satisfied by all applicants, including native English speakers. Your options include:
- English 12, or English Studies 12, or English First Peoples 12 (Canada onshore only).
- The AP English Language and Composition or the AP English Literature and Composition exam (with a minimum score of three).
- International Baccalaureate (IB) English at Standard or Higher Level (a mark of four or higher).

4Bachelor of Arts
Applicants intending to major in Economics are strongly encouraged to meet the mathematics requirement specified for the Bachelor of Commerce, as this requirement must be met prior to enrolling in subjects in the major.
5Bachelor of Biomedicine and Bachelor of Commerce
The combination of the AP Statistics exam (with a score of at least three) and British Columbia Calculus 12 will meet the mathematics prerequisite, in addition to having either the AP Calculus AB or AP Calculus BC exam (with a score of at least three).
6Bachelor of Design
Engineering majors are offered both in the Bachelor of Biomedicine, Bachelor of Design and the Bachelor of Science. Bachelor of Design applicants intending to major in Civil Engineering Systems, Computing and Software Systems, Construction, Digital Infrastructure Engineering Systems, Mechanical Engineering Systems or Property may be required to undertake a bridging subject in mathematics in their first year of the Bachelor of Design, if they do not have the mathematics prerequisite specified for the Bachelor of Science.
7Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Music
Both courses require the satisfactory completion of the British Columbia Certificate of Graduation but do not require a minimum cumulative score. Admission for each course is based primarily on a portfolio, audition and interview, and other course-specific additional requirements. See Auditions and Interviews for more information.
8Bachelor of Oral Health
The Bachelor of Oral Health has vocational outcomes such as dental hygienists and dental therapists specific to Australia. The course is not a pathway to become a dentist or to pursue professional dentistry studies such as the Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Melbourne. The minimum required score is indicative. Meeting the entry requirements does not guarantee entry to the Bachelor of Oral Health due to the limited number of places available for international student enrolments as applicants are assessed competitively each year.
9Bachelor of Science
The combination of the AP Statistics exam (with a minimum score of at least three) and British Columbia Calculus 12 meets the mathematics prerequisite.
