Professor Sunita Jogarajan, Director of Studies, Tax
The tax program provides a unique opportunity to learn directly from senior members of the legal profession. In addition to allowing me to broaden my knowledge in a diverse range of tax topics, the practical experience has helped to refine my skills in putting this knowledge to work as an advocate.
Benjamin Lancaster, Master of Laws graduate
Planning your tax study
Melbourne Law School offers an extensive range of tax law subjects for graduates in law or graduates of other disciplines with relevant professional experience.
These range from a grounding in the fundamentals of Australian and international taxation law to advanced, specialised subjects exploring comparative trends and current developments in taxation law and policy including tax systems of major trading partners such as the US and Asian countries.
All subjects are taught by leading Australian and international tax experts. Some are taught throughout a semester with many delivered as short, five-day intensives.
Students complete a number of credit points depending on the qualification they are working towards. A combination of 6.25 and 12.5 credit point subjects can be undertaken to reach the required credits for each qualification. There are compulsory subjects depending on the chosen course of study. International students are required to take Foundations of Tax Law.
Subjects available for 2024
Practitioners who do not wish to enrol in a degree course can enrol in individual subjects for professional development purposes.
