Applications for Start Year Intake are now open and will close on Monday 12 February 2024.

Application process

Step 1: Look at the course/subject Handbook

Step 2: Before you begin your application, make sure you have the following ready:

  • The year you graduate d from your highest level of education
  • The year you started and finished your most recent qualification
  • For Melbourne alumni, your former student ID
  • A copy of your transcript.  You can upload a copy or share it via MY eQuals or CHSICC.

Step 3: Submit an Online Application

Current or previous University of Melbourne student/applicant

  • Apply online and log in with your University of Melbourne credential.
  • Provide copies of official transcript(s) for advanced standing or credit transfer granted from exchange or study abroad or cross institutional studies undertaken outside the University of Melbourne.

New applicant

  • Apply online and select ‘Apply as a new Student’.
  • Provide copies of official transcript(s) for advanced standing or credit transfer granted from exchange or study abroad or cross institutional studies undertaken outside the University of Melbourne.

Step 4: Respond to Your Offer

Start Year Intake Round 1 offers will be issued early December.  Mid-Year Intake offers will be issued on a rolling basis.  You must respond to your offer by the Offer Lapse Date noted in your offer letter.

Step 5: Enrol in your subjects for Semester 1 and 2, 2023

  • The date your visa was granted
  • If you’ll be residing in Australia during the course
  • What year you entered Australia.

You live with a parent or guardian

  • Their highest level of educational attainment

Rural or regional background: you have lived in a rural area for 5 years (consecutive) or 10 years (cumulatively).

  • Whether you live or lived in a rural or isolated area as defined by the Australian Standard Geographic Classification of: RA2, RA3, RA4 or RA5. If you are based in Victoria this essentially means anywhere outside of Melbourne or Geelong.
