How do I apply?

There are two components to each application. Applicants must complete components 1 and 2 by the application closing date.

If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, you may like to contact our Faculty’s Wilin Centre for Indigenous Arts and Cultural Development before proceeding. They can assist you with your application and provide you with additional information about your study options.

UNIVERSITY APPLICATION
Submit a direct application via the University's application portal
SUPPLEMENTARY APPLICATION
Upload a sample of academic writing and the provision of two referees via the supplementary application form.
Academic Writing Sample
Musicology and Ethnomusicology applicants are required to submit an academic writing sample of no more than 3000 words, written within the last five years.* The writing sample should:
- Demonstrate the applicant’s ability to communicate in scholarly prose.
- Demonstrate awareness of recent literature in the field of the essay's topic.
- Include a bibliography, discography, and/or list of ethnographic interviews as appropriate.
- References should follow a recognisable Style Manual such as the Chicago Manual of the Style 16th edition (either the note/footnote system or author/date).
- Writing samples may be a research paper, ethnographic report or proposal, literature review, or another genre of academic writing.
