Overview

The Professional Certificate in Indigenous Research (GC-IRPRO) is a single-subject 25-point award. Upon completion of this compulsory subject, students will be awarded a Professional Certificate in Indigenous Research, which will give them 25 credit points towards the Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Research and Leadership (GC-IRL).

About the subjects

The Indigenous Research subject explores research and develops skills from an Indigenous perspective. Topics covered include:

  • Selecting and refining a thesis topic
  • Research design, methods and methodology
  • Reviewing the literature
  • Ethical issues in Indigenous research
  • Establishing effective relationships with supervisors
  • Managing a research project
  • Communicating your research and community engagement
  • Qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis and presentation
  • Planning and writing a thesis.
Articulation into the Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Research and Leadership

Satisfactory completion of the course provides participants with 25 credit points towards the Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Research and Leadership.

Please note that you may not undertake the Professional Certificate and the Graduate Certificate in the same year.
