Overview

Encompassing India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives, South Asia contains roughly one-quarter of the world’s population and is critical for the future of Australia and the world.

Examine the historical and contemporary significance of this dynamic region to cultivate your global understanding of political, economic, social and cultural change. We teach the in-depth knowledge and research skills to help you understand and analyse South Asia – and in this transdisciplinary field, you’ll build skills drawn from faculties across the University as you study questions concerning politics, law, health, education, architecture, geography, identity and the environment.

Complementing this course of study, AsiaLink and the Australia India Institute offer a rich program of Asia and South Asia-related events and activities, including connections for internships with businesses, governments, NGOs, and museums in Australia and South Asia.
