Accommodation at Melbourne

Welcome to your new home.

There is a range of student accommodation (you may know this as housing) available to you. Choices include University owned and partnered accommodation, known as University Accommodation, and traditional residential colleges.

  • Applications for University Accommodation are currently open. If you submit a first preference for Little Hall, The Lofts at Melbourne Connect or Lisa Bellear House, the application fee will go towards your rent once you move in to one of these residences.
  • Applications are also open for residential colleges and other select options - you can explore these further down the page.

How to apply for University Accommodation

No travel, no stress.

Seems obvious right? Unfortunately there are a lot of accommodation deals out there with lock-in contracts. This means you may have to continue paying rent, even if you can’t travel to Melbourne.

If you apply for University Accommodation, you can secure a room now, without having to worry about things outside of your control. If travel restrictions make it impossible for you to travel to Melbourne, you have the ability to suspend your accommodation agreement. Conditions apply. Please remember to check your offer and agreement for full details.

Other options

Our Student Housing service can provide information and support to assist you with finding alternate housing options, such as private rentals. They can provide advice on your rights and responsibilities as a tenant, refer you to financial support if needed and provide transportation information.

Under-18 international students

If you're under 18 and planning to study at Melbourne, you'll need accommodation, support and welfare arrangements in place to be issued with a student visa by the Department of Home Affairs.
