A guide to entry scores for the Ontario (Canada) Secondary School Diploma
To be eligible for consideration for an offer, international students must achieve at least the required score as listed below, satisy course prerequisites (achieving the required grades in specified prerequisite subjects) and satisfy the English language requirement.
From the Start year 2025 intake, the University will only accept Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) transcripts from applicants who have completed their Diplomas at public schools listed here and international private schools listed here.
All transcripts will be verified directly with the school or board by our Quality Assurance team prior to receiving an offer (if eligible).
Please note that results from all Canadian high school qualifications must undergo formal verification before an unconditional offer can be issued. Refer to verification information for Canadian high school qualifications.

Alternative ways students can satisfy subject prerequisites is by taking the following studies or tests. If the qualification you have completed, or intend on completing, does not appear at the link above, please ensure you attach a syllabus/subject outline to your application. Students completing the program outside Canada must meet the University’s English language requirements by achieving the required score in an approved English proficiency test such as TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge or Pearson Test of English.
3Applicants intending to major in Civil Systems, Computing, Construction, Mechanical Systems, Property or Spatial Systems may be required to undertake a bridging subject in mathematics as breadth in first year. This is equivalent to Units 3 and 4 Mathematical Methods, and entry requires a mathematics background equivalent to Units 1 and 2 Mathematical Methods.
4 Admissions is based on either a portfolio or audition and completion of high school. Applicants must be qualified for University entry and have satisfied the course-specific extra requirements.
For all other English-speaking Canadian provinces, minimum entry scores and prerequisite subject requirements are similar to the published British Columbia and Ontario Secondary School Diploma requirements. The University of Melbourne does not recognise the Quebec CEGEP qualification for admission to its bachelors degrees.
